Inspired by the likes of Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Black Lagoon, Gunsmoke Icarus is a sci-fi action/crime drama that puts us on the distant planet of Gaia, millennia after the mass exodus of Earth. After an unexpected crash landing, humanity would spend the next several centuries settling inside the massive wreckage of the Icarus, turning the rubble into a megacity capable of housing the majority of the human race that now inhabits Gaia. The city of Icarus has since evolved into a melting pot of whatever culture humanity managed to salvage from Old Earth.
Our story focuses on Shion Juarez, a loud-mouthed and hot-headed street rat who has made a life for herself, pushing drugs and slinging guns for the Santiago Cartel. She does this alongside her best friend Leon Estevez, whom she met when his mother, Aida, rescued her off the street as a teenager. Leon was born into the Cartel, and is lined up to succeed his father, who was considered a legend among gangsters that operate in Icarus.
Shion doesn’t remember much about her childhood, besides the inside of the lab where she was the subject of various tests and experiments that left her with increased strength and reflexes, as well as severely crippling her sense of touch, making it incredibly difficult for her to feel any sensation without the use of drugs.
The plot of Gunsmoke Icarus will see Shion’s life turned on its head when mysterious assailants begin targeting her. There is a bounty on her head, and a group of her closest friends is tasked to figure out who is after her, why, and how to stop them..
Gunsmoke Icarus is aimed at adult readers who enjoy gritty, fast-paced stories that include lots of guns, drugs, and sex appeal, with some alien sci-fi thrown in for good measure. We hope to capture people’s hearts with the fun, raunchy dynamic between our protagonist duo, and hit hard with deep emotions and moments of wavering trust. Shion Juarez and Leon Estevez are a pair worth following, and their unique relationship is the cornerstone of the narrative.
