Fallen is a 22 page, full colour issue that will be part of an ongoing series. Fallen’s first print will be standard American sized comic format on high quality paper.  Fallen will blend the genres of mystery, thriller andfantasy by creating a thrilling mythological detective story. The story takes place in the vibrant, synth-pop filled era of the 1980’s in the loud, crowded streets of New York City. Created and written by myself (Matt Ringel), and art done by Henry Ponciano ( Alterna Comics Tinsel Town, The Devil Within, Seven Legions)

Character Concepts

Over a millennia ago, gods spanning from many different ancient religions were cast down to Earth from their ethereal realms in an event they called The Descent. Cut off from many their divine powers and their godly kin, they walked the world as immortals. The Greek, Norse , Shinto, and Aztec gods maintained a tenuous alliance for many years before descending into conflict. Eventually a ceasefire was reached and rules were set in place to prevent another conflict. One of the primary rules was that the gods could no longer directly influence the mortal world but many found a workaround. Several gods chose wards, a human that they bestowed with vigor, immortality so that the ward could do their bidding in the world without drawing attention to the gods.

Flash forward to 1986’s New York City, the divine clans of the gods have become crime families controlling the lawless underworld. When Zeus is murdered at the hands of a mysterious killer. Casper Clay, Zeus’ ward and ancient soldier turned private detective must find the answers. Who killed Zeus and how did they kill a god? Casper will have to navigate those same lawless underworlds he was once part of but this time without the support of the Olympian family behind him. As he gets closer to the truth, he learns that there may be more at stake than finding justice for Zeus, the realms of man and god may hang in the balance.
