(Press Release) Fort Worth, TX based independent publisher BareBones Comics is proud to announce the release of its first horror comic, Scream King: Abusement Park, a brutal and unflinching descent into obsession, violence, and twisted entertainment.
Created and written by Bryan Swann, with haunting interior artwork by Rick Mata, Scream King: Abusement Park follows Vincent DeMarco, a man addicted to one thing above all else: the sound of people screaming. When Vincent takes control of a once-wholesome family amusement park, he transforms it into a sadistic playground of terror, where fear is the admission price, and survival is never guaranteed.
Swann’s story blends slasher horror with brutality and what lengths someone will put others through to get their fix. Artist Rick Mata brings this nightmare to life with visceral visuals that turn familiar amusement park imagery into a grotesque set piece of dread, amplifying the comic’s tension and cruelty on every page.
“Scream King: Abusement Park is about obsession taken to its absolute extreme,” says creator Bryan Swann. “It takes something designed for joy and safety and turns it into a twisted playground where screaming isn’t a reaction—it’s the goal.”
BareBones Comics comes onto the horror scene, delivering raw, uncompromising horror with Scream King: Abusement Park, pushing the boundaries of independent comics through bold storytelling and fearless visuals. Fans of extreme horror, slasher villains, and dark indie comics that refuse to hold back will find a chilling new experience waiting behind the turnstiles.
