“This 48-page graphic novella is an adaptation of a classic Edgar Allan Poe story, that many consider to be “one of his goriest.” In this black, white, and red printed edition of the story, writer and artist John R. Muth delves into the mysteries and horror surrounding a young girl who is left in the clutches of her monomaniacal cousin, who only has one thing on his mind.
Well, to be more precise, thirty-two things.”
Along with Berenice, this Kickstarter campaign is meant to fund print runs of 3 other titles, all created by John R. Muth, so he can attend conventions and other shows to share his work with all the sickos and nerds he can find. His other books are:
– THEOXENIA: a 50-page science-fiction graphic novella, adapted from the short story “Time Fuze” by Randall Garrett, which is about humanity’s first test of a faster-than-light warp drive, and the repercussions of not understanding the impact you have on the world.
– The Pleiades: a 75-page YA science-fiction graphic novel about a young teenage girl who is trying to build her own spaceship to escape her abusive family.
– MY LIFE (turned upside-down) Collection, Vol. 1: A series of four auto-bio comics telling about moments from the author’s life, including the death of his father, finding his next-door neighbor dead, the loneliness and freedom of spending the holidays alone, and dealing with his receding hairline. (32 pages)
The Kickstarter is live now and runs through June 15, 2026.
