Pullbox Previews SoulD #1 & 2- An urban cyberpunk-fantasy about capitalization of the soul, the rebels who fight against it, and the nature of addiction. Now Live on Kickstarter!

SoulD, the cyberpunk-fantasy series from the creators of StoneCop, is back funding on Kickstarter for its second issue!

Sisters Iona and Eilidh Camran still find themselves on opposite sides of megacorp Pneuma Research’s plans to aggressively monetise the human soul. Iona works for them in the engineering department, Eilidh thinks this process is a disgusting defilement.

After the ruinous events of the first issue, the sisters are put to work in Pneuma’s spirit-processing machine. Forced to defile ancient artworks on the orders of a tyrannical boss, they might never find their way back to their old lives, or escape their annoying new bunkmate.

Will they overcome their differences long enough to escape the daily grind? Can anyone stop Pneuma cashing in all our souls? And what will the next piece be from guerrilla soul-sculptor DeathTwister?

SoulD is an urban cyberpunk-fantasy comic about the corporate capitalization of the soul, the rebels who fight against it and the destructive nature of addiction.

Co-created by writer Nick Bryan (Death of a Necromancer, The Collected Letters of Courier Z) and artist Phil Appley (Requiem, Robo), with colourist JP Jordan (Star Trek, Power Rangers, Sagas of the Shield Maiden) and letterer Lettersquids (Weird Work, Frank at Home on the Farm).

Nick and Phil worked on the worldbuilding for this story for most of 2024, starting with some original concepts by Phil, and then working together fleshing out the world, discussing characters, and devising fun new uses for soul crystals.

They’re excited to return and take us further into the dark underbelly of this universe. Along with both issues of the series, there’s also a new generation of SoulD rewards available for the new Kickstarter, including art prints, commissions and, for one backer only, a chance to be drawn into the story as a (doomed) security guard for Pneuma Research.

Back SoulD now, it’s good for the soul!
