Okay, this one’s a little off-brand for me and The Pullbox, but I know there are some wrestling fans out there, but trust me… everyone would love this show. On a recent cruise with a port stop in Cozumel, my wife spotted an excursion: The Lucha Libre Experience. It’s been a heartbeat since I’ve been a hardcore wrestling guy, but when life throws a masked wrestler at your feet (literally), you roll with it. And yes, by the time the show ended, I was covered in beer and wrestler sweat. That’s how you know it was a good time.

The setup was legit: a full arena experience with lighting, music, intros, and a crowd that was all in. Family-friendly but still packed with high-flying action, it was perfect for fans of all ages. Regardless of the action being scripted (or is it?), the physicality is very real! And the audience will find itself ducking and dodging the occasional luchador. At one point, a heel got tossed right in front of me (that’s my foot in the pic), and one of the luchadores snagged the full beer can from the woman sitting next to me and smashed his opponent in the head, spraying us all.

After the main event, the luchadores, referee, and even the emcee stuck around for photos, which was a super cool touch. Everyone was friendly, clearly loving the performance just as much as we did. If you ever find yourself in Cozumel and want a break from the beach, I highly recommend checking this out. It’s reasonably priced depending on your excursion vendor, and honestly? It was some of the most fun I’ve had watching live entertainment in a long time.
¡Viva Lucha Libre!

Even “Big Papa”‘s hat got into the action!
