Epic storytelling awaits in Gloomhaven on Free Comic Book Day
Citizens of Gloomhaven are going missing, and the Jaws of the Lion are on the job. How far out of the city will Tiber the Valrath, Diamartia the Voidwarden, Dok the Inox, and Powder the Quatryl have to journey to bring the local blacksmith back home? Will they succeed, or become victims themselves?
Writer Travis McIntire and Artist Tyler Sowles, the pair behind the Gloomhaven: Fallen Lion, are re-teaming for the FCBD exclusive.
“Gloomhaven is a fantasy setting unlike anything else out there, with a fanbase immersed in the world thanks to the wildly popular tabletop RPG. Our goal with A Hole in the Wall was to capture the “feel” of the Gloomhaven world and the camaraderie of the characters,” says McIntire.
Gloomhaven is a fantasy-themed, campaign-based tactical board game for 1 to 4 players designed by Isaac Childres and published by Cephalofair Games in 2017. Gloomhaven: A Hole in the Wall is the follow-up to the official comic book adaptation Gloomhaven: Fallen Lion. In this second installment the creative team delves deeper into the group dynamics of the Jaws.
“I want the experience of reading Gloomhaven: A Hole in the Wall to feel similar to sitting down with your friends to play Gloomhaven,” says McIntire.
“I really try to pour a lot of personality into the characters, and I like to mess with expressions and moods. It’s especially fun on the less-than-human characters. Hopefully, we convey a much larger world in Gloomhaven; a city teetering on the brink of disaster,” says Sowles.
Source Point Press is a division of Ox Eye Media alongside Deep Water Games, publishing books, comics, and board games. Gloomhaven: Fallen Lion is available now from Source Point Press. Gloomhaven: A Hole in the Wall will be in stores on Free Comic Book Day Aug. 27.
