Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds

Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds ( DC – Johns / Perez )

Geoff Johns and George Perez continue crafting the Crisis of the 31st Century! As Superboy-Prime leads the Legion of Super-Villains against everything and everyone inspired by the legacy of Superman, the Legion of Super-Heroes are forced to call for help from beyond their world. Meanwhile, contingency plans are created by Brainiac 5 as he attempts to overcome Colu’s devastating betrayal, Dawnstar and Wildfire pull off a startling rescue, but at a horrible cost to the universe, and Saturn Girl uncovers the source of the Legion’s troubles.

Another rocking addition to the Legion and Superman story lines! As Superman and the Legion struggle to come to terms Superman’s plans to try and redeem Superboy-Prime, thus saving the universe. Many of the Legion members are having issues of why the good guys don’t just kill SB-Prime, which they feel will also save the universe. While this debate endures, many of the the Legion’s members are locked in a life and death battle against SB-Prime and the Legion of Supervillains, who don’t have any compunction against killing at all. The never ending battle rages on.

Geoff Johns and George Perez are two of the best in the business, and this issue is a great example of that. Perez sets his bar even higher with this miniseries. It’s hard to believe that he could get any better, because he’s already the best, but someone forgot to tell George that. People have been marveling at his work for decades, and the train of awesomeness is still chugging along. As for Geoff Johns, he writing at the top of his game. His story and text is top notch, but I do have one worry. This miniseries is only three issues long, and I’m really trying to see how he can end this at the end it there. The end of issue two have the two mega-forces just meeting. So, now we have to start and finish redeeming Superboy in one issue. I’m interested, but skeptical. Even given the talents of Johns and Perez.
