Devil’s Due Publishing brings on the robots!
The same creative minds who rendered Optimus Prime for a new generation of comic book readers will team once again this Winter in DAWN OF THE DREAD FORCE, a brand new mini-series from Devil’s Due Publishing.
DAWN OF THE DREAD FORCE tells the story of a future Earth at war with the moon and under siege by its monstrous robotic killing-machines. As 80-foot tall machines methodically slaughter Earth’s population, a small group of rebel humans sets out to make a desperate last stand for survival.
“Drawing giant robots has always been my forte,” says James Raiz, “and DREAD FORCE has given all of us free reign to really go all out with some crazy artwork. I really think people will be blown away, not just by the art, but by the story and the coolness of the whole project.”
Jaran Studios’ President Porfiria Girgis predicts, “DAWN OF THE DREAD FORCE should be a can’t-miss hit. We’ve got the best artists anyone could hope for, especially considering the subject matter, and Kurt [Hathaway]’s an awesome writer, so we really struck gold.”
James Raiz and Gerardo Sandoval have been recruited to pencil the three-issue mini-series. Raiz’s past work includes Transformers Armada, Transformers Energon, Tokyo Storm Warning, Wonder Woman, Incredible Hulk: Destruction, City of Heroes, Captain Universe/Invisible Woman, Birds of Prey, Star Wars Tales and Amazing Fantasy. Sandoval is a star on the rise, penciling titles like Tomb Raider during his time with Top Cow Productions.
Inker Rob Armstrong was Pat Lee’s exclusive inker while working at Dreamwave Productions, and his inking credits include Transformers G1, Transformers G1 Vol. 2, Transformers Armada, Transformers Summer Special, Transformers/GI Joe, X-Men, Batman, Superman, Fantastic Four, Witchblade, Dark Minds and Warlands.
Colorists Danimation, Simon “Seed” Bork and Misty Coats round out the art team. Danimation’s coloring credits include Marvel Age Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited, X-Men Unlimited, Fantastic Four Special, Age of Apocalypse, Son of Vulcan, Voltron, Street Fighter, Darkstalkers and Jason Rubin’s Iron and the Maiden. Misty Coats is one of the most talented new colorists in the business and Bork is an up-and-coming talent to watch, already with credits on titles from Marvel, Dark Horse, Image, UDON and more.
Kurt Hathaway has been hired to develop the series’ premise and write the scripts. His background as a 20-year industry veteran in the fields of writing, lettering and editing make him perfectly suited to bring DREAD FORCE to life. His writing credits include Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, Supreme, Deathmate Red, Green Lantern, High Stakes Adventure, etc., and also includes movies, television and Playstation games for Electronic Arts.
DAWN OF THE DREAD FORCE is scheduled for a Winter release. For more info, check out the Devil’s Due booth (#2635) at San Diego Comic-Con.
