Salvation Run #3

Salvation Run #3 (of 7) (DC – Willingham / Chen / Wong) The DCU’s most savage villains are stranded on a hostile planet. Lex Luthor and Gorilla Grodd now control the minds of many of the other castaways, forcing them to go along with the geniuses’ plan. But will this plan lead to escape, or something far more sinister? This book is lot more interesting than the above description details. And what we have to the left is not the cover of the mainstream issue, but is what DC had posted as the cover… so oh well. Salvation Run chronicles what happens to all of the villains that Checkmate has dumped on planet Hell through the use of Boom Tube technology. Not only do these baddies have to try to survive an over-the-top hostile planet, but also try to make a society within the confides of mad scientists, super-brutes and incredible egos.  In issue #3, we see Joker and Lex Luthor form two different “tribes” that are literally at each other throats. By the end of the issue with some help from Grodd, Joker’s band has been driven off and Lex’s group has the time, space and “lack of wild cards” to be able to create a way home, or at least that is Lex’s plan. Bill Willingham is doing a great job of keeping track of the characters and not letting the story get bogged down. I started getting this title with a hope that is had to better than Countdown, and by leaps and bounds it is. It will also be an incredible trade when it gets that far.
