Maverick’s award-winning Paper Planes team reunites for a new high-school drama graphic novel inspired by the Romantic era.
Next Year, Mad Cave Studios’ young adult imprint, Maverick, presents New Romantics. Written by Jennie Wood, illustrated by Dozerdraws, and lettered by Micah Myers; New Romantics is an all-new graphic novel perfect for the real theater geeks and fans of stories like Heartstopper and Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me.
When Maple Falls Christian School cancels its drama department, theater-obsessed Sawyer Chase refuses to give up her dreams. She forms New Romantics, a student performing group, but keeping the act “wholesome” proves impossible when secret crushes, hidden identities, and forbidden romances collide with the expectations of their school, parents, and small-town community.
New Romantics will be available in paperback ($16.99, 9781545826515) and hardcover ($21.99, 9781545835883) formatson January 26, 2027 (FOC January 4). Preorder it now from your local comic shop, bookstore, or at maverickgraphicnovels.com.
