Pullbox Reviews Chrono-Cat: There and Back Again- All the heart of a Marvelous Galaxy Guarding adventure, with half the calories!

When a freak accident transforms cute and cuddly lab mascot Charlie into the world’s first feline science superhero, Chrono-Cat must travel time and space to save his friends, the world and himself.

In an all new adventure, Chrono-Cat finds himself in trouble when his noble intentions have led to a disastrous outcome. The reappearance of Colonel Krypto, now armed with a formidable zombie army, threatens to plunge the world into chaos. As despair creeps in, a glimmer of hope emerges in the form of a magical imp named Jedidiah, offering Chrono-Cat a single wish that could potentially change the course of events. But is Jedidiah as friendly as he appears?

Stu Perrins starts his second story with Chrono-Cat alone on devastated world, until a friendly imp named Jedidiah (who was in a bind, cuz he was way behind and was willing to make a deal) shows up with an offer. Chrono goes from lone cat on the run to world renowned hero. Perrins balances his tongue-firmly-in-cheek tail… sorry, Charlie… tale with just enough heart to rope in readers who might otherwise lose the plot in groans & eye rolls. There are layers but never forget that we’re talking about a story where the villains include a human/goldfish hybrid named Luther and a group of robotic scrappers called the Clockwork Chaos Kids.

Visually, the action and mayhem are put to the page by the talented Joe Covas and Ron Gravelle. Between the two of them, Covas illustrating and Gravelle adding color, the team never loses track of the Saturday morning- or after school for the younger crowd… or,  for the even younger crowd, the Cartoon Network- of it all. Chrono-Cat is a cartoon laid out in comic book form, and they’ve embraced the bright colored chaos of it all.

For a fun, smooth-going, easy on the mind read, look no further than Chrono-Cat: There and Back Again. It’s a sci-fi story filled with adventure, starring a time-hopping feline with the attitude of a certain anthropomorphic Galaxy Guarding trash panda.

Final Score: 10/13
