DC to try to revitalize war comic genre!

With the economy down and sales slipping all around the comicsphere, DC is going to give an older genre with a rich history a possible second coming.  In Sept, (hopefully not using 9-11 as marketing) DC will gives the readers a look at updated versions of some of their most famous “war titles” in an attempt to see if there are any positive economic trends to be found.  You know, I can’t imagine Marvel will be far behind on this.

DC’s The SourceThis September, DC will bring back a number of familiar war titles in a series of one shots from a number of the best and brightest creators in the industry, including Darwyn Cooke and Ivan Brandon on WEIRD WAR TALES, B. Clay Moore and Chad Hardin on OUR FIGHTING FORCES, the return of OUR ARMY AT WAR, William Tucci and Justiniano on STAR-SPANGLED WAR STORIES and Matt Surges and artist Phil Winslade on G.I. COMBAT, with each issue sporting a cover from an A-list pool of artists that include Cooke, Mark Schultz, Geof Darrow, Joe Kubert and Brian Bolland.
