Blackest Night #4 – Half Way There!

Blackest Night #4 ( DC – Johns / Reis / Albert / Prado )

Summer’s hottest event explodes in this critical issue! Hold on to your power rings, because the secrets behind the Blackest Night finally stand revealed! While Earth is evacuated, Hal Jordan embarks on a brave journey to the darkest depths to uncover the truth behind the Black Lanterns! You won’t believe what he uncovers!

Continuing the best-selling epic from superstars Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis!

Here we are half-way through Blackest Night and the “secrets revealed” are all things that readers should know already, if you’ve been paying attention.

1) Nekron is the one pulling the strings of all the Black Lanterns

2) The black rings are what’s controlling the bodies and are just extensions of Nekron’s will.  They steal the bodies of those people who create the most emotional response from people.

3) A combination of Green Lantern’s light and another light of the emotional spectrum will disrupt the rings and “kill” the BLs

The bulk of this issue deals with Barry Allen, Ray Palmer, and Mera trying to coordinate the defence of Earth.  Part of their plan includes finding the closest thing to Green Lantern’s light they can find in Hal’s absence…Alan Scott!  The battle for Earth comes down to just keeping up defences until the Green Lantern Corps can get there.

As I was reading, I had a hard time understanding why the GLC would even be coming to Earth in the first place.  They seem to be pretty busy getting Oa back from it’s current invasion.  That is until a giant black power battery rises up on Earth.  Funny how Earth seems to be the actual center of the universe..

Pretty much nothing new to print about the awesomeness of Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis.  They continue to set a high standard for comic artist and writers currently in the biz.
