With what started nine years ago (can you imagine it’s been that long?) with an almost-didn’t-happen re-imagining of Peter Parker in Ultimate Spider-Man #1 is now ending with a cataclysmic almost world-shattering end and deaths of a bunch of A-listers.
What is happening here is almost a Marvel opposite. By picking up Ultimatum, I don’t have to pick up all the individual books that are happening with this event. Yes, for all the individual details you must pick up the books of your choice, but being someone who does not (did not) regularly read Ultimate Spider-man or Ultimate X-Men, this was a pleasant surprise.
After a huge battle between the UMU heroes and Dormammu and a very cool death scene, the action transfers to Magentos lair where the final showdown has been started. This has a lot of action and a fast pace, just wish the issues came out closer to one another. 🙂
