Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns ( DC / Johns / Davis / Hope )
“The prelude to “The Blackest Night” begins here! They come from a place of great anger and hatred. They are the Red Lanterns and they will have their revenge against the greatest Green Lantern – Sinestro. That is, unless the Guardians have theirs first.”
Um…I have no idea how this relates to Final Crisis. Oh, I see now! It doesn’t relate to Final Crisis at all and they just put that label of it to rape of out of an extra dollar. Nice DC. Real freakin nice.
Okay, don’t let me angst for DC and their ever increasingly useless cross-over event deter you from picking this one up. Despite the “Final Crisis” in the title, this is a Green Lantern Corps story all the way. Sinestro is finally being taken to pay for his crimes in the way of an execution on his home planet of Korugar. They need a GL escort that includes some of the more powerful GLs we’ve seen, the Alpha Lanterns, and a handful of “Red Shirts”. The Sinestro Corps sets an ambush to retrieve their incarcerated leader, but that’s just the beginning. The ambush gets ambushed, mid-ambush!! The Red Lanterns come flashing in vomiting blood, which can apparently melt a face right off, and killing anyone not wearing red. They are indiscriminate killers, taking out anyone and anything. The Sinestro Corps looks beat, the GLC is devastated. Power rings are losing power and it looks like our heroes are going to die when a third type of ring bearer shows up. A Blue Lantern swoops into and mysterisly charges Hal’s ring from 0% to 200%. Plus, this new lantern, Saint Walker is his name, claims to be sent by Ganthet! Huh!?!
Keep a keen eye on the Green Lantern books. They are more interesting than all of 52, Countdown, and Final Crisis put together.
