CCI: “The CHAIR” reaches Kickstarter goal; first feature film based on an Alterna Comics title

Alterna Comics has been making a lot of waves in the past three years.

FUBAR Vol.2 European Theater of the Damned hit #6 on the New York Times Best-Selling Graphic Books list, a catalog of 50+ titles in print and digital, a string of successful Kickstarter and IndieGoGo campaigns have funded books like Horror in the West, Monstrosity, FUBAR: American History Z, FUBAR: Mother Russia, The Last West Vols. 1 & 2, Lilith Dark, Metaphase, and many more.

Now, the creator-owned indie publisher can add their first feature film to that list of successful Kickstarter projects.

THE CHAIR, created and written by Alterna founder & publisher Peter Simeti, started off as a graphic novel in 2008. Penciled by Kevin Christensen and edited by Erin Kohut (who would go on to write the screenplay for the film), THE CHAIR follows the story of Richard Sullivan, an innocent man struggling to escape execution on death row. Witnessing the torture and murder of his fellow inmates at the hands of the prison’s sadistic and psychotic Warden, Sullivan decides that the only way to survive is to fight back. But as he matches the savagery and brutality occurring in the prison, Sullivan is forced to come face to face with his own sanity.

With a recognizable and talented cast that includes Eric Roberts, Brian Thompson, Bill Oberst Jr., Naomi Grossman, Zach Galligan, Noah Hathaway, Susan Eisenberg, Kin Shriner, and many more – THE CHAIR aims to please both fans of horror AND comics.

The crew is compiled with notables as well, having worked on popular films and television shows like Marvel’s THE AVENGERS, American Horror Story, Heroes, Veronica Mars, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and more.

With 6 days left, THE CHAIR is looking to raise further funds and reward backers with stretch goals.  You can learn more about the film and make your pledge right here on Kickstarter.
