April Fool’s Edition from Zenescope

Grimm Fairy Tales: April Fool’s Edition #2 (Zenescope – Brusha / Tedesco / various)

Volume 2 of the sophomoric yet hilarious foray into the Grimm Fairy Tales universe is back! The first issue left most fans wanting more, it left others wondering if we’d lost our minds and it left a small handful suffering temporary IQ loss. But we’re back at it again so please read at your own risk! Five Grimm Fairy Tales stories are re-lettered with alternate storylines and some alternate artwork to create brand new takes on past Grimm issues that will have you laughing out loud. Grimm Fairy Tales gets the Mystery Science Theater treatment and this time you don’t want to miss the fun!

What do you get when you cross Disney and The Hangover?  You get this goofy, funny, risque, off-the-deep-end collection  of re-writes.  What you have here are comic gems with an incredible amount of wit that pushes the ticket on every page.  Yes, it is exactly what it appears to be, with stories like “The Gold-digger and the Beast” and “Drinking Beauty” what else could it be?  While these tales made me laugh, I certainly can understand how this would not appeal to everyone and definitely not for a younger (like middle school) crowd.   Right now, you already know whether or not you belong in the camp that would find this funny (do you on a regular basis quote Seth Rogan?), and if you are – you will love it!  If not, then this might be one of the few Zene-books you might want to avoid.
