Dark Avengers #9 (Marvel – Bendis / Deodato)
Poor Marvel Boy… he had no idea how sinister a gang the Dark Avengers actually is. And now he is running for his life. And poor Ares, he has no idea where his son goes while he is off being an Avenger. And now he is going to find out. And when he does… there will be hell to play. Guest-starring Nick Fury and the Secret Warriors. Oh, you heard that right. Ares versus Nick Fury! You know when Stan used to say ’nuff said? This is the kind of thing he was ’nuff saiding about!
This issue is easy to sum up… Norman is having Goblin problems, The Sentry gets shot by his wife and Ares follows his son (who he has recently been reuinted with) into the headquarters of Nick Fury’s Secret Avengers. This is where you think it’s going to get good… you know, looking at the cover… but Ares has a father-therapy moment and verbalizes that he doesn’t know anything about being a father. Too bad Dr. Phil wasn’t in the Secret Avengers. Ares then lets the boy choose his own way and more or less gives him to Fury… not predicted, but still interesting.
