Okay, It’s been a few weeks, so I know there will be no spoilers here… but Jeph Loeb outdid himself here with showing his willingness (and the Marvel creative team in general) to wipe the slate clean… literally! A majority of Ultimate characetrs decimated and destroyed in a move to streamline the Ultimate line! This is an issue that has some major player that are known for being softies (namely Scott Summers and Ben Grimm) “manning up” and making the hard, cold, tough, military decisions. Fantastic writing – Phenominal art – way to not sissy out Marvel!
The conditional part of my love-fest here, is that like most of the Ultimate books, this did not need five issues to get to the meat of the plot. Hopefully with the new labeling, the Ultimate line can live longer than another ten years.
