Incognito #3, A Little More Obvious

Incognito (Avatar – Brubaker / Phillips)

Any critique of this book is splitting hairs. Keep that in mind. Overall, I expect this to be an A+ series all around. That said, issue three may only rate an A for writing.

Sean Phillips’ art continues to be strong, his story telling, use of space and clarity of action are all nearly flawless. There are sequences that are breath taking. You don’t want to blink in case you miss something.

The plot has kind of wandered onto a more obvious path than it initially took, and the story itself seems hurried. I could have done with a whole issue or two dealing with Farmer knowing Zack’s (Overkill’s) secret, and making demands on him. It felt like they rushed through all that. And then there’s the battle in the mall against old allies, it seemed sort of well, already done.

That said, my feeling is this is just a little slow down at the beginning of the second act, add some interesting sub-plots that will burgeon later into something awesome. So, wee tiny weaknesses aside I say KEEP ON READING what is easily the best book out there today!

Story: a measly A
Art: A+
