Buckaroo Banzai: The Prequel #1 (of 2) (Moonstone – Rauch / Richter / Chan / Wolak / Mounts)
Moonstone has long been one of those hidden gems that a lot of independent pulp fans don’t know about. Almost all of their books would be categorized as pulp stories within different genres ranging from Sherlock Holmes to Doc Savage to one of my favorites Buckaroo Bonzai. And most of them very, very solid.
Moonstone Books has been furthering the adventures of everyone’s favorite surgeon / physicist / rockstar with the help Mac Rauch, who wrote the original cult classic movie. This Prequel miniseries is… well just that… the events that led up to the movie. Any fan will surely want to have this – original writer, canon story, adequate art. Without other BB outlets available, this will make those of us in the Hong Kong Cavalier fan club drool. I throughly enjoyed reading it, but I only have one big issue with it… $3.99 for 16 pages. Hey, I get the independent press thing, but come on! That’s a bit steep, at least for my budget!
