Teen Titans #58 (DC / McKeever / Barrows / Palmiotti)
Welcome to the mind of M’gann M’orzz, Miss Martian! It’s bad enough when the world you live in is alien to you, but when you have something inside you clawing to get out and destroying everything you stand for, that’s at least a little bit worse, right? Also: more of Clock King’s malefic machinations!
Talk about your split personalities, check this action out! The mind of Miss Martian is crowded indeed, and the other occupant is bent on the destruction of mankind. So here we have a being that is just as strong as a Kryptonian and mentally unstable. Eek! Sean McKeever must just be brimming with plot ideas on how this can affect not just the Teen Titans, but the entire DC universe. The White Martians have always been a very real threat to the DC universe and when used correctly they make for great villains. In Joe Kelly’s run on JLA, he had a possessed Martian Manhunter kill most of the White Martians. I’m not sure how many are left, but is Miss Martian’s “other side” were to hook up with more of her species it would cause major trauma for many on the DCU.
Then there is the other set of Teen Titan troubles with the Terror Titans. Clock King continues to cause trouble for our heroes with his constant planning and scheming. Clock King is a villain I’ve never really taken seriously, but I’m beginning to see the calculated edge to him. I also see that what he’s doing to Kid Devil might end badly for everyone.
