The story of SUPERPOWERS continues here and it’s here that we’ll find out if the modern world can handle the greatest heroes ever lost to history as Yank, the Lama and the Black Terror are on the run from the Dynamic Family! Also, this issue narrows its focus on two such heroes, The Death Defying ‘Devil and Samson, along with a new hero – the Scarab! This powerful series is overseen by Alex Ross who has redesigned every hero within these pages; along with writer Jim Krueger and artist Carlos Paul, this is the most powerful comic book event of the year! Plus, each issue of the series features original character design art from Alex Ross himself!
I can see how the overall series will be a trade that every good fanboy will have on their shelf. The creative flow of Jim Krueger / Alex Ross is hard to beat. But looking at this issue within itself… that got a tad iffy. The reader gets introduced to a couple more characters, each with what seems like separated 2-3 page action snippits with close to no overall continuous narrative within the book. In honesty, this is becoming tougher to follow even if you are trying and really wanting to like it… and none of the characters have grabbed me as the Fighting Yank did in issue #0. Well, here’s to the Yank coming back to center stage. 🙂
