Salvation Run #2 (DC – Willingham / Chen / Wong) – DC’s blurb – “Who will end up as leader of the pack? Joker? Lex Luthor? One of the Rogues? Is there any chance of escape? Each issue brings some closer to control…some closer to conscription…and others closer to death!” Our heroes, the villains, have taken the first step towards their ultimate goal of getting back to the Earth… but not without a little road kill on the way. Bill Willingham does another great job of fleshing out some of the lesser know C and D level villains while keeping us awake on the A-list too. As the third wave “guests” have arrived… we get to see the inner working of a community of only villains and what makes right in this new found culture. Some wonderful story moments include Joker getting a real life death threat, an inner monologue from Metallo, Psimon sets up the plans for a utopia only to get his skull bashed in by the Joker who has his own thought on the matter… and the arrival of Lex Luthor. It is amazing to me how he takes charge as soon as he enters a room, without having any powers at all… not unlike Donald Trump :). Salvation Run is ablast to read and is what Countdown should be!
